You should have the following items prepared in order to give signout to the PACU nurse:
- Patient's procedure
- Allergies
- Type of anesthesia
- Weight
- Estimated Blood Loss
- Any major events during the surgery and how they were treated
- Number of IVs and location
- Amount of fluid given
- Name and dose of medications administered for post-op pain and nausea.
- Name and dose of antibiotics.
The following items should be included one a case-by-case basis:
- Urine output
- Weight
- Blood products administered
